“The challenge for us is this: How can we ensure that, when we try to help others, we do so as effectively as possible?”
– William MacAskill
What is Effective Altruism?
Effective Altruism (often referred to as EA) is a social movement and intellectual project that uses evidence and careful reasoning to determine the most effective ways of doing good. It’s a large and diverse community spread around the globe, taking action on various causes such as improving global health and animal welfare and reducing existential risks in order to alleviate suffering and improve lives effectively.
What does EA Tübingen do?
EA Tübingen, as one of many EA local groups around the globe, serves as an entry point to the community. We are also an official student group of our local university. Our goal is to offer a platform to meet and discuss topics related to Effective Altruism and spread those ideas. For this we have weekly meet-ups, discussions and informal social meetings each Wednesday at 18:00 (Check the schedule for detailed information). Everyone is invited to join. No prior knowledge of Effective Altruism is required. If that sounds interesting to you, just check out the schedule and we will be happy to welcome you the next time we meet.
If you want to stay up to date concerning our events and anything else related to our group, subscribe to our mailing list below (no spam, one mail per week)
